Energy will be the main focus for the different activities planned for the 5th Science and Technology Week, which will take place at different venues all over the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.
Ever since the dawn of time research into and development of processes for obtaining and transforming energy have become the driving force of the world and have made indispensable advances possible. “Energy” has become an issue of prime importance, owing to the magnitude of its very concept and its decisive importance in social development.
For this very reason the energy sector is a sphere of obligatory reference for the scientific and research community. The quest for alternative systems, the fear that certain natural resources will run out, the need to build a sustainable energy system that will not compromise the survival of future generations… These are some of the aspects that have moved institutions and private entities to promote and maintain an attitude open to knowledge.
It is clear that the broad scope of the concept “energy” could place an obstacle along the way towards reaching specific objectives in the scientific and technological sphere, but it is no less true that this very reality makes it possible to address numerous challenges and opportunities.
Universities, technology parks and centres, scientific societies, companies, museums, foundations and other organisations will be reflecting within the framework of the 5th Science and Technology Week on research in the field of energy, will be making their experiences known and sharing them and will be opening their doors to display their scientific-technological resources to the wider public.
The Science and Technology Week is aiming to promote the knowledge and exchange of experiences and to encourage a thorough reflection on what energy represents and the path scientific research is intending to follow in this field.
